Naval Weapons Station Earle's history began in 1943, when World War II operations demanded an ammunition depot in the greater New York metropolitan area. A bo... | | 07/31/2008 | 593 |

 | There's a formation on the fantail of one of the Arleigh Burke destroyers in San Diego. I'm not sure of the purpose as I've not yet found any information of any such ceremonies on ship web pages. | | 07/30/2008 | 177 |

 | Included in this set of placemarks is labeling and information for all major ships visible as well as every boat and barge I've been able to identify within some degree of accuracy. The placemarks include NAS North Island and the aircraft, but exclude the two flying helicopters as those have their own post. (also the two visible ceremonies have their own post) | | 07/30/2008 | 286 |

As a smaller base, it's entirely focused on amphibious operations with a mingling of some US Coast Guard ships and littoral patrol craft. Some of the larger vessels based here are in port as well as many landing craft. | | 07/29/2008 | 228 |

 | Brunei has refused delivery of these three Offshore Patrol Vessels. (OPV) While based on the FS 2000 Light Frigate design similar to the Lekiu class frigates the Malaysian Navy operates, these are even lighter. Although Brunei eventually took delivery mid-2007, it's not entirely clear if the ships are still in storage at this location or if they've been moved. Most assume that Brunei will sell ... | | 07/08/2008 | 492 |

 | This is a Turkish Gabaya Class or "G Class" frigate. This class consists of Oliver Hazard Perry class US frigates sold to the Turkish government. This one was involved with or had just completed exercises with other European craft. I don't know if it was a NATO or Joint European Force activity though. I think it most likely was a European exercise. | | 07/06/2008 | 549 |
