The 4 mile long dam left of this placemark is considered the world's largest earth-filled hydro-electric dam. It was completed in 1940 and was the cover photo to the first issue of Life magazine.

The new bridge, called the Sunshine Skyway, was build to replace the previous bridge damaged when hit by a freighter in 1980.

The new bridge is 22,000 ft long and 175 ft above water.
