The Staatliches Hofbraeuhaus Muenchen is a brewery in Munich, Bavaria, Germany, owned by the state government.
The brewery operates the Hofbraeuhaus am Platzl, the Hofbraeukeller, and the second largest tent at the Oktoberfest (Hofbraeu-Festzelt). The beer is named Hofbraeu. Of course, it is the only beer served in their gastronomies.
Weihenstephan is part of the city of Freising (48,500 inhabitants) north of Munich/Germany.
Weihenstephan is known for its Benedictine abbey, founded 725, which established the allegedly oldest brewery in the world still in operation today. The brewery is now known as Bayerische Staatsbrauerei Weihenstephan (i.e. it is owned by the State of Bavaria).
