Fort Kuivasaari belongs to Finland and located on a Kuivasaari island in the Gulf of Finland in the Baltic sea. It has strategic position near a Helsinki - capital city of Finland.
Word "kuivasaari" means - dry island. Good joke because the island is very rare to dry from a rain. Fortunately it was a rain break during our visit there so picture above is clear.

The Nakwon munitions complex after being bombed by SHORAN-equipped B-29s of FEAF’s Bomber Command. The main building of the grenade factory was totally destroyed and 31 other buildings were either destroyed or badly damaged.

The BC Gneisenau in drydock at Deutsche Werke in Kiel

While under repair the Gneisenau received a direct hit on the foredeck during an air attack on the night of 26 - 27 February 1942. Despite it was standard procedure, her stocks of ammunition were not discharged. This was a fatal error as the hit she received started a chain reaction which devastated the ship and killed 112 crewmembers. This was the end of the career of the Gneisenau.

Marienburg in East Prussia was the home of a Focke-Wulf aircraft assembly plant where half of all Fw-190's were produced. The first big raid by the 8th Air Force was on this well defended plant.
