Description: In November 1992 the Hamburg property developer Claus Becker opened the private Erotic Art Museum at No. 69 Bernhard-Nocht-Straße. This restored 1869 warehouse has a four storey exhibition area covering 2,000 m². The collection comprises erotic art from the 16th century to the present day. Japanese coloured wood engravings, silk paintings, lithographs, etchings, scultures, paintings by old masters such as the Brussels renaissance mannerist Barent von Orly and the Parisian rococo classicist Jean Frederik Schall as well as works by Honore Daumier and Eugene Delacroix are to be seen. The classical modern is represented by Otto Dix, the impressionists by Felicien Rops and Lovis Corinth, Jean Cocteau and Henry Miller, and contemporary artists include Allen Jones, Ernst Fuchs, Horst Janssen, Jörg Immendorff and Marcus Lüpertz. Works by Tomi Ungerer, donated to the museum by the Alsace artist, are displayed in a special gallery of their own.
