Description: Built at the end of XI century, the primary fortress stands proudly at the very edge of a cliff surrounded by a double near-by enclosure. As the the main worcraft is dug inside of the cliff, a second castle was built just at the bottom of it with underpaths to join both. This donwside castle was extended in XVI and XVII centuries by the La Rochefoucauld family and mainly by Duchess d'Enville. This castle was Rommel's headquarter in 1944 and is considered to be one of the place where the plot against Hitler was discussed. Last fact, cartoonist E.P. Jacobs (Blake & Mortimer) located one of his famous comics "Le piège diabolique" inside of the undergrounds of La Roche-Guyon
