Description: CERN is the world's largest particle accelerator and is located on the border of France and Switzerland. It is also known for being the birthplace of the world wide web. Its 27 km circumference circular tunnel (located 100 metres underground) will house the Large Hadron Collider (LHC), due to start operation in 2007.
