Description: Since September 2004 the official home of the Scottish Parliament has been a new Scottish Parliament Building, in the Holyrood area of Edinburgh, designed by Catalan architect Enric Miralles with a distinctive roof in the shape of an upturned boat. In 1997 it was estimated that a new building would cost £40 million, however costs spiraled and it ended up costing over 10 times as much at £431 million. Also shown are the Palace of Holyroodhouse, and Edinburgh Castle. |
