Description: Sam Houston Race Park, located in northwest Houston, opened as the first Class 1 racetrack in Texas on April 24, 1994. The Houston racetrack hosts two live race meets annually; Thoroughbred racing October through April and American Quarter Horses from June through September. In addition, Sam Houston Race Park offers a comprehensive simulcasting program 364 days each year in its grandstand and Player’s Lounge. Racing fans can watch and wager on races across the country and from international racetracks including Australia and Hong Kong.
