Description: Although Al Asad is now the largest US Marine base in western Anbar province this image was taken before large scale repair/development took place. You can see Marine helicopters dispersed around the field and hardened shelters with conspicuous war damage. Some Iraqi fighters are well dispersed in the desert to the east.
