Description: Located since 1856 in Sandbach, Cheshire (United Kingdom), Foden claims to be the world’s oldest independant truck manufactuer. The company was founded by Edwin Foden who first started building steam waggons later the company went on to buld diesel engine trucks which they still do to this day. they even supply the British Army with various models of trucks including a Recovery Truck. They even built their own diesel engines for trucks and also Marine engines one Foden Marine Engine power the Launch on the Royal Yacht Britannia (this they no longer do) but you can still find Foden Marine Engines in service with the Royal Navy and around the world The company has remained in Sandbach through out is life and provide much employment to the people of the town and has now moved across the railway tracks from it old site to a new modern plant Foden is one of the true heritage names of the British truck industry. Offering a complete range of heavy trucks from 18 to 80 tonnes, Foden has built an enviable reputation for quality products that meet the most arduous demands of the industry to which it belongs.
