Description: The Kuffner Observatory is a historical Observatory that was founded in 1884 by the Viennese brewer Moritz von Kuffner as a private research institute. Probably the most famous astronomer who has ever worked at the observatory was Karl Schwarzschild.
The observatory's main instrument is a double refractor for visual and photographic use with apertures of 27 cm and 15.6 cm, respectively. The second dome houses a large heliometer.
Today, the Kuffner Observatory is a public observatory and can be visited during guided tours, exhibitions and seminars. |
