Description: The New Norcia Tracking station is located 140 kilometres north of Perth, in Western Australia, close to the town of New Norcia. It is operated by Xantic.
The 35-metre diameter antenna with transmission and reception in both S- and X-bands, is designed for deep-space satellite missions and provides daily support to Mars Express, Rosetta and Venus Express in its Routine phase, and in the future the BepiColombo mission.
There are plans to upgrade to Ka-band reception. In addition there is an antenna for the Global Positioning System – Tracking and Data Facility (GPS-TDAF).
The station was officially opened on the 5th of March 2003. |
