Description: In 2003 the Navy decided to use the 1976 decomissed USS Oriskany to construct an artificial reef, and she was moved from Beaumont to Corpus Christi, Texas for final preparation. As of this writing, she is docked in Pensacola, Florida, awaiting her sinking in June 2005. She will be scuttled as a haven for plant and marine life, and will continue to serve her country forever!
