EXPO 1992 Sevilla

Description: Here you can see the area where the 'EXPO'92 Sevilla' (world exhibition) took place. This is an old swamp which was cultivated especially for this fair in 1992. Several new buildings where built. Some for long time use, others just for the time of the EXPO. This project should help, to solve infrastructural problems with that part of the town and to establish a new part of the city.

The EXPO itself was a great success as exhibition and a six-month-party. The area was opened from 9 a.m. to 4 a.m. to the next morning! During the evening and night hours a lot of bands were playing, bars and cinemas where opened and all nations partied together.

I've heard, the period after the 'EXPO'92 Sevilla' wasn't that successful. As you can see on these images, several areas are not filled with new buildings. The station for the high speed train isn't in use anymore and begins to break down. Because of the cost the sea is only a quarter of that size it had in '92 and all artificial rivers are dry.

In the north of the area you can see the new athletic stadium, build on the older EXPO parking ground.
