"In the past six weeks, as the harvest approached, neighbors said they have grown increasingly concerned as guards armed with crossbows began patrolling the property, using flashlights at night. Barbed-wire fences were built. Security guards threw knives at a life-size human silhouette that appeared recently as a target on the front lawn.
