Mugla University: A Young University with Challenging Targets
Muğla University was established in 1992 as a state university with four proposed faculties, Faculty of Arts and Sciences, Faculty of Economics and Administrative Sciences, Faculty of Technical Education and Faculty of Aquaculture and Fisheries. Muğla School of Management, which was founded in 1975 as the first higher education institution in Muğla and had been the part of Ankara Academy of Economics and Administrative Sciences and then İzmir Dokuz Eylül University, was tied to Muğla University on its establishment. Muğla Vocational School too, which was founded in 1989 as part of Dokuz Eylül University, joined Muğla University. 1993 was the first academic year of Muğla University with two active faculties and one vocational school. In the following academic years, Ula Vocational School and Ortaca Vocational School in 1994, and Milas Vocational School and School of Physical Education and Sports in 1995 were added to the existing ones respectively. Muğla School of Health and the Faculty of Technical Education welcomed its first students in 1997. Fethiye Vocational School began its educational activities in 1998 and Dalaman Vocational School in 1999. Faculty of Education and the School of Tourism and Hotel Management admitted their first students in 2001. Fethiye School of Health in 2002, Faculty of Fine Arts, Faculty of Aquaculture and Fisheries and Yatağan Vocational School in 2004 received their first students.
