Sangley Point Naval Base is a naval of the Armed Forces of the Philippines located in Cavite City in the province of Cavite. The base was also a former U.S. naval station. The base occupies the northern portion of the Cavite City peninsula and is surrounded by Manila Bay. During the World War II era, the base was the home of the U.S. Navy's Asiatic Fleet and 16th Naval District. The naval station has a runway used by the US navy patrol planes. It was also used extensively during the Viet Nam war. The naval station was turned over to the Philippine government in 1971.
