Description: Prehistoric Fossils found at the Holzmaden site. These fossils come from the Jurassic Period, 180 million years ago, when the whole of Europe was submerged under a tropical sea. This sea was the habitat of various saurians. Their skeletons have been preserved in the shale as a unique testimony to the prehistoric world - nowhere in the world are they to be found in such great numbers and so well preserved as here at the foot of the Swabian Jura..
