Description: Midway Airport in 1938 still called Chicago Municipal – it would be renamed Midway in 1949. Functionally it was still largely confined to the southern half square mile (note absence of landing tire marks in northern half). A close observer can see the outline (top left margin of photo) of the Midway avoiding line built by the Belt Railway Company of Chicago to facilitate closure of the track through the Midway property.
