Description: One of several water tanks and balancing reservoirs built as part of a massive engineering project to improve water supply between North Wales and Liverpool. Norton Water Tank is one feature of a water supply system that includes the Vyrnwy Dam and aqueduct. At 650,000 gallons capacity, it is not the largest of the works -- that honour goes to the tank at Malpas, which can contain 4.5 million gallons. However, it is still impressive, being housed in a sandstone tower some 110ft high. |
