Description: This once secret and world’s largest building at the time, the K-25 plant construction began in June 1943 and completed in early 1945 at a cost of $500 million to separate uranium-235 from U-238 in the construction of the first atomic bombs. The design wasn't even decided when the building was built. Using the gaseous diffusion method, the myriads of cascading repetitions seperated out the heavier U-238 from U-238.
