Description: It was near this site in 1996 that a underground tomb that contained about 150 mummies all clad in gold from their head to their chest They were called the golden mummies. The actual excavation didn't start until 1999 because of money constraints but it is believed that there may be thousands of these mummies burried in this cemetary and the excavation could take as long as 50 years. I have been looking around this site for some time but I can't pinpoint exactly where the dig is. I am new to Google Earth and may not have the experience to find it so if anyone pinpoints the exact place please let me know where it is. I know it is close to the Bahariya Oasis but I just havn't been able to see it.
