Description: Sneglehuset (the Snail House) in Thyboron is an interesting building. It's covered totally by all sorts of shells (mussels, oysters and snails) in all kinds of patterns and colours. Inside the walls are covered like that too. Most of the shells were found on the nearby beach.
The building is a museum of shells (of course)from Denmarks coasts but also from around the world but also a large collection of bottle ships made by local fishermen in the years 1935 to 1965. Also things fishermen got into their nets are collected here like amber pieces and a seat turtoise shell.
The house was made by a local fisherman who lived in the house. He did it in 25 years.
The photos shows the house and close up view of a piece of the shell pattern.
