Upright it stands there, with hands held into the hips, raised head, the view into the distance arranged. A man like many, middle age, black trousers, white shirt: All this works familiarly, usually and nevertheless draws the wooden people shape views of the passing inevitably on itself.
Because the man, so completely left and naturally on one about 40 centimeters high base stands, does not have a firm soil under the feet. It floats on a varying buoy close to the shore.
The German sculptor Stephan Balkenhol had it cut out from an oak trunk. 1993 referred these "four men to buoys" position: On the Aussenalster, the Suederelbe in Harburg, in the Serrahn in mountain village and in the Elbe close of the Oevelgoenne they drive museum port in the water; they are caught up from November to March.
