Description: This fortress is the symbol of the city, it was built in 1659 and was raised on a hill from which you can have a beautiful panoramic view of Cumaná and the surrounding.
Subsequent replacements were destroyed by earthquakes. The present fort was restored after a 1929 earthquake.
