Description: On the 17. November 1990, a forty-foot sperm whale got stranded om the beach near Nymindegab. The dead whale, weighing in at 25 tons, was such a tourist attraction that it was talked of as far away as Copenhagen, and scientist from the Zoological Museum there decided to have a closer look at the big fish. After the whale had been dissected, the skeleton was transported to Copenhagen, where it was cleaned up in the Zoological Museum.
Meanwhile, the local people had taken the initiative and built a whalehouse, ready for the whale to come back home to Nymindegab. Take the country road through Nymindegab and stop awhile to have a look at the huge skeleton. Admission costs nothing.
