Description: From around 1100 to 1523 this was the possible place for the King of Denmark and the leading men of this region to meet and dicuss the State of the Union. Nobody knows if it's the right spot or if it was somewhere nearby.
Every region in Denmark had a thingstead. Many places around Denmark they can still be seen. At the village Gulde in Schleswig (Germany) a thingstead as they might have looked like can be seen.
It was also at Urnehoved the danish King Erik Emune was killed 1137.
On the surrounding stones are named historical people of the area of Sonderjylland and on the major center stone it says:
URNEHOVED Sonderjyllands thingstead until 1523.
At the bottom it says: Med lov skal land bygges (By law the country shall be build). These are the words from the first danish lawbook for the Jutland region from 1241.
These words can also be seen over the entrance to Copenhagen courthouse.
