The trams run on a 8.7 km path through downtown Nice, France. Initially, 20 trams will cover the 21 stations and are expected to carry 60,000 riders per day. The trams operate on overhead contact lines carrying 750 volt direct current. Exceptions at busy Place Masséna and Place Garibaldi require use of onboard batteries. The system provides adequate park and ride facilities, plus connection to the bus system.
The "Citadis T.G.A. 302" is 33 meters long, weighs 42 tons, is 2.65 meters wide and 3.50 meters high. It can carry 216 passengers (54 seated and 162 standing). WOW! thats a lot of cars off the roads! |
