Description: Experience how forms of communication have developed from the days of Christian IV to today’s Internet and mobile telephones. The exhibitions take you on a thrilling journey through time, dipping into the most important and exciting episodes in the history of communications in Denmark. An audio section, where you can listen to living personal stories from the past, has lately expanded the exhibition.
In the permanent exhibitions you can among other things see the pumpkin-shaped mail coach which delivered the post in the 19th century or the ice boat of the same era which the postal services had to use to get the post over the Great Belt. In addition, we have recreated the interior of one of the coaches of the mail trains, which for most of the 20th century travelled through Denmark by night, while the post was being sorted as they went. You can also see – and hear – one of the Nimbus motorbikes, which delivered the post in the 1950’s and a real Copenhagen telephone box from today.
