Description: Kalo Castle was build around 1313 as one of four in Jutland by the danish King Erik Menved.
The castle was, among others, a state prison. The swedish King Gustav Vasa was imprisoned here 1518 to 1520 whe succeded to escape to Lübeck.
1660 it wasn't in use anymore and it was demolished. Bricks were transported to Copenhagen to build the new Charlottenborg Castle at Kongens Nytorv.
Today it's a main attraction in Denmark. |
