Description: From Wikipedia: Yerba Buena Gardens is a public park between Yerba Buena Center for the Arts (www.ybca.org) and the Sony Metreon in San Francisco, California. Built in the early 1990s on top of the Moscone North convention center, it is the largest public park in the South of Market area.
It includes a large lawn with a performance shell, a waterfall, a bowling center, a museum, a carussel, an ice skting palace and various outdoor sculptures. A plaza at the top of the waterfall features restaurants. The waterfall itself and the recessed area behind it is a memorial to Martin Luther King, Jr.
"Yerba Buena" is the original name for San Francisco, which was the name later chosen by Spanish missionaries. |
