Description: Lake Palace on Lake Pichola, Udaipur is a luxurious and most romantic hotel in India. Formerly it was known as Jag Niwas. The construction of the Lake palace went on for 3 years and was completed in the year 1746, under the direction of Maharana Jagat Singh II(62nd successor to the royal dynasty of Mewar) of Udaipur. It was a summer resort for the rulers during that period. It has beautiful pillared terraces, courtyards lined with columns, fountains and gardens. Guests are transported by a boat that operates from a jetty at the City Palace to the Lake palace hotel.
