Description: This pub at the corner of Whitechapel Road and Cambridge Heath Road is best known for the murder of George Cornell by Ronnie Kray in 1966. Interestingly enough, it is also the site of the birth of the Salvation Army, as in 1865 Rev. William Booth gave an impromptu sermon on the pavement here which led directly to the formation of the SA.
