Description: Christs has a chequered history. Originally God's House, it was evicted from its riverside site by Henry VI in 1443. Thereafter it suffered financial difficulties until Lady Margaret Beaufort, mother of Henry VIIth, granted the college large amounts of land and money, renaming it Christ's, in 1505.
