Description: The 'Alte Oper' was originally built from 1873 to 1880 by R. Lucae. Destroyed in WW II it was rebuilt between 1976 and 1981. Nowadays, there are events in and outside the Alte Oper.
The football globe for the 2006 World Championship stood in front of the Alte Oper from December 2003 until February 2004. The 20m high globe was an idea from André Heller. It's concept was to bring world of art and football (soccer) together.
