Description: This is the site of the toppling of Saddam Hussein's statue on 9 April 2003. The statue stood on the south end of the oval and is still visible in this image. The mosque with the blue dome on the southeast side is the 14th of Ramadan Mosque. The large building on the northwest corner of the square is the Palestine Hotel.
I updated the description of the placemark to include a Wikipedia link.
