U.S. Eight Air Force Liberators blasted the Zahnradfabrik Works during Saturdays's 18 March 44 operations. The Zahnradfabrik A.G. Works, one of the largest gear cutting factories in the world is left burning with half of the west end of the plant hit by incendiaries and high explosives. As the Liberators headed for home, huge columns of smoke surge up from the Friedrichshafen area.
