On monday september 6th. 1982 the frigate Peder Skram was on a routine journey in Kattegat. Shortly before noon by an error in the electric system a missile was launched and hit between 2 summer cottages at Lumsaas, 34km (22miles) away.

The missile hit some trees and destroyed 4 cottages, 130 others were damaged. No one was hurt or killed.

Some one had to be blamed forthe incident and the "lucky" one was a captain on the ship, Olsen. He had led the testing of the system and was the most experienced expert in the navy.
After this episode he got a nick name, Missile Olsen.

A politician in the danish Folketing said from the rosrum: I dont like the way the navy is redeveloping areas with summer cottages.

Today nothing is visible anymore, Peder Skram is out of duty and is a museum ship at the former naval station Nyholm in Copenhagen.
