|The Palace of Parliament is situated in the center of Bucharest and it represents an attraction because of the fact that the Guiness Book of Records ranked it second after the Pentagon (with a surface of 333.000 sq km) and third in the world in volume. At present, this building is the residence of the Romanian Parliament.|
A national autonomous body founded in 1867, the Romanian Academy acquired its name in 1879, when it replaced the Romanian Academic Society. The Academy is Romaniaís highest scientific and cultural forum, drawing together top personalities in the world of sciences and humanities. In 1898, the Romanian Academy began to function in the large Neo-Classic building on Victoria Road that it has occupied to this day.
