The Legend

Year after year 100,000 people, and in 2003 actually in excess of 200,000, make the pilgrimage to the greatest sporting event of the former GDR territories, the German Motorcycle Grand Prix, taking place on the Sachsenring.

After hosting the motorcycle world championships until 1972, the 3,670 m classic race course in West Saxony saw the return of the Grand Prix in 1998; and with that, competitive motorcycle racing came home to its fans.

The unusual course configuration with downhill grades of up to 13% and uphills of 10% make the ultimate demands on the rider ... Nerves of steel are needed if you are to come through the wild skids, hard braking and top speeds in excess of 270 km/h, and be able to stand proudly on the winner's podium. Fans are guaranteed an action-packed show of high-speed racing accompanied by the deafening roar of engines when world champions Valentino Rossi, Max Biaggi and Sete Gibernau fight it out in the four stroke Moto GP class.

Sachsenring - Motorsports and more.
