The Hôtel des Invalides was built by Louis XIV as a home for disabled war veterans (hence the name "Invalides"). The Invalides complex consists of public gardens, two churches (one of which houses Napoleon's tomb), the Musée de l'Armée, and several smaller museums. It's the highest dome in Paris, built by Mansart in 1706, 107 meters in height.
