Ex-home of the Detroit Lions NFL franchise.

From the king of rock to the kings of gridiron, the Pontiac Silverdome has established itself as a world-renowned facility hosting some of the most celebrated entertainers and athletes since 1975. Over the years, the Silverdome's historic line-up has included such artists as Pink Floyd, U2, Madonna, *NSYNC, Backstreet Boys, the Rolling Stones, George Straight, The Who, The Jacksons, Metallica and David Bowie, plus international sporting events, such as 1993 US Cup and the 1994 World Cup Soccer. Wrestlemania III in 1987, Super Bowl XVI in 1982, and the 1979 NBA All-Star Game.

The two highest attended events at the Silverdome were in 1987 when 93,682 people visited the stadium to hear Pope John Paul II conduct mass and 93,173 fans packed the stadium for Wrestlemania III in 1987.

The 80,325 seat dome is an entertainment center for all seasons...and all events.

The Pontiac Silverdome has the unique distinction of serving as the host site for the Super Bowl XVI in 1982... the first NFL classic played outside the Sunbelt. In 1979 the National Basketball Association All-Star Game was held at the Silverdome and drew a crowd of 31, 475 and in 1988 a record crowd of 61, 983 watched the Detroit Pistons host the Boston Celtics.

The Silverdome is proud to be the first indoor stadium to host an international soccer game on natural grass when Germany defeated England at the June 19, 1993 U.S. Cup by a score of 2 to 1. The Silverdome is the first indoor stadium in history to host four first round soccer games in World Cup '94.

In between professional, college, and high school football games and musical concerts of all types...rock, country and western, and popular - crowds enjoy motorcycle racing, monster jams, off-road car and truck racing, carnivals, wrestling, religious gatherings, trade/consumer shows, NCAA basketball tournaments, banquets on the playing field and "Ride N Drive" events in our 100+ acre parking lot.

No other domed stadium in Michigan can offer such diversity in events or host more than 80,000 people. Please enjoy your visit to our site.
