|1755, on november 1st at 9:20am, Lisbon was hit by an earthquake with epicenter 200 km. in the Atlantic Ocean. It was followed by a tsunami with waves of 4 stores high. After the quake the city was hit by fires because of open cooking-fireplaces and lamps.|
More than 60000 of 250000 people were killed in Lisbon and thousands in the outskirts.
The quake hit when there was an All Saints Day mass in the Carmo's Convent.
