|On the 17. November 1990, a forty-foot sperm whale got stranded om the beach near Nymindegab. The dead whale, weighing in at 25 tons, was such a tourist attraction that it was talked of as far away as Copenhagen, and scientist from the Zoological Museum there decided to have a closer look at the big fish. After the whale had been dissected, the skeleton was transported to Copenhagen, where it was cleaned up in the Zoological Museum.|
Meanwhile, the local people had taken the initiative and built a whalehouse, ready for the whale to come back home to Nymindegab. Take the country road through Nymindegab and stop awhile to have a look at the huge skeleton. Admission costs nothing.
