Mactan Island: Magellan tried to convert the natives to christians. Chief Lapu Lapu was opposed to that so a fight ensued (The Battle of Mactan). Magellan lost the battle and his life. Juan Sebastián Elcano took over as Commander and sailed back to Spain with only one ship.
