This is the Great Mosque in the Islamic Holy City of Makkah. Every year thousands of Hajjis (Muslim pilgrims) gather here to worship Allah on the Hajj (pilgrimage). The box in the centre is the Kaaba, a shrine built by Prophet Abraham and his son Ishmael. Although it is white here, every year in January the Kaaba is covered by a black cloth (Kiswah) embroidered with Arabic words in gold thread.|
