This tilt-rotor aircraft was built in 1982 and first displayed at the Dayton Air and Trade Show, Dayton, Ohio, 1989. The Skycat has never flown, due to design modifications yet to be completed. The Skycat is a combination of a turbine gyroscopic power system and tilt-rotor aircraft design. The Skycat was designed to serve as a close ground support aircraft.
Designed and built by CHAC member Hal Fogle of Matthews, North Carolina, a veteran of the famous “Skunk Works," Hal is a national figure in aircraft design. Mr. Fogle also served on the design team for the first SR-71 Blackbird.
Over seventeen years of design and manufacturing have been invested in the Skycat. |
