After the war the britons build up a memorial but it was taken away again 1953 and brought to Sandhurst military academy.

Wreck of the German Destroyer SMS B-98 in the Bay of Lopness, Sanday

During the scuttling of the German High Seas Fleet in Scapa Flow on 21 June 1919, not all of the ships were successfully sunk. One of these, the destroyer B98, was subsequently towed away but as she was passing Sanday, the tow line broke and she ran aground in the Bay of Lopness. Today, her turbines and boilers are still clearly visible from the beach at low tide.

During WW1 Danes were fighting for the German Reich because they lived in Sonderjylland which was German from 1864 to 1920 after Sonderjylland became German after the Second Schleswig War 1864.

More than 4,000 danes lost their lives in German uniform. 79 are buried in this cemetery the rest in German WW1 cemeteries. Many were reported missing.

The camp area is marked by a white line.

The largest German WW II POW camp was Stalag VII-A at Moosburg, Germany. Over 110,000 allied soldiers were imprisoned there. It was liberated by the U.S. 14th Armored Division following a short battle with SS soldiers of the 17th SS Panzer Grenadier Division on 29 April, 1945.
