Heard Pond

For Millenia the inhabitants of the Heard Pond area were Indians from the Nipmucks, of the Algonquin tribe. In the early 1600's Herbert Pelham, first Treasurer of Havard College was given this land. Heard pond is well known in the birding community.

Green Pond Road was a stadium in Walthamstow, London. This was Walthamstow Avenue F.C.'s ground for many years until they merged with Leytonstone & Ilford to form Redbridge Forest, a precursor to Dagenham & Redbridge. The stadium's record attendance was 21,708 for Turkey v China in the 1948 Summer Olympics football tournament.[1][2] The ground was often simply called 'The (Green) Pond'....

Fired from the castle at 13.00 every day (except Sunday)this gun lets the people of Edinburgh know when its time for a sandwich. If you are on Princes St (the shopping street below the castle)when it fires, you will notice many people checking their watch, just to make sure it's on time.
